What to 21st century school look like and how do we get there?

Web conference with administrators around the state

  • Administrative Tech Leader Cohorts are meeting across the state.
  • Each is at a different stage of the planning process
  • Each is considering what 21st century schools will look like

Learning not just in the classroom - outside the building and outside school hours
Centered on student interest
Knowledge is growing is expontially
Access to and evaluation of information
Teacher as facilatator so that students have more interaction
Students are not passive learners. They need to be active.
Education as a movable feast
It probably changed a while ago we are just are catching up
Teacher cannot possibly know everything and every question cannot be answered
Many teachers feel overwhelmed now and don't feel that they can keep up

Survey your staff about what they are good at and what they need
Survey what is in your building and who knows how to use it
Learning Walks - Teachers and administrators go into different classes and then debrief what they saw
Teach them strategies to use in the walk through
upload example of technology projects by grade level on a shared drive
